WOW! IT'S HOT!

For the first offering of exploitation movie posters of the year, here's a hodgepodge of nutty films, with a few I've added my own comments to. Some are crazy ridiculous and the rest are ridiculously crazy, especially the Japanese imports. Enjoy!

Barbara Steele!

Call of the Pistil (?!).

Debbie's Done Everything.

Russ Meyer's wife!

Hell in a Bottle (!).

America's first publicized transgender case!

John "Wonderland Murders" Holmes!

Visa or MasterCard?

Nuns That Bite (!).

Wake up, America!

Not many if they all look like that!

Pam Grier!

  1. Caged Heat: great cast, solid (albeit inexperienced) director; what's not to enjoy?

As for Trip with the Teacher, we've got Zalman King frothing at the mouth again (remember Blue Sunshine?), before he gave up on acting and disappeared into directing soft porn. Must have been such a disappointment to his former cheerleader, Harlan Ellison.

  2. Mr. King developed into quite the Sleazemeister. I was unaware of his collaboration with Ellison. And Blue Sunshine? Ugh! The title is a riff on a strain of acid called Orange Sunshine that was going around back in the day. Don't ask me how I know!

    1. They didn't collaborate as such, but Ellison used his television review column in The Los Angeles Free Press, 'The Glass Teat', to promote King as an exciting new talent, after seeing him in The Young Lawyers (1969-71).

  3. I've collected a smallish Ellison book collection over the years, and I'd have to say that my favorites are his two volumes of The Glass Teat. He's at the top of his insightful, cranky game in these columns, if you ask me. I even read a number of them straight out of the L.A. Free Press which was readily available from those now uncommon street corner newspaper vending machines. I met Ellison once at a bookstore called A Change of Hobbit in Santa Monica, CA. It was very brief and gave up when I sensed he didn't want to be bothered. The store manager's nickname was "The Hobbitch"!
