Ever since Conan's comic book debut in September 1970 (cover date October), there has been a revolving door of Marvel artists that are nothing short of magnificent. This gallery from the pages of THE SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN proves my point with work by John Buscema, Ernie Chan, Alfredo Alcala, Tony DeZuniga and many others.
Outstanding! Fantastic artwork by some amazing artists inspired by a great character. It's hard to choose against Big John Buscema, but my favorites are by Tony DeZuniga. His have an eroticism which adds that necessary zest.
ReplyDeleteSuper-heroes aside, artists always stepped up to the drawing board and sharpened their pencils when on a Conan assignment. Zuniga was always excellent and it's too bad he's not still with us to continue his marvelous work. Alfredo Alcala was also a remarkable Filipino artist.
