JOE KUBERT'S SON OF SINBAD

Perhaps inspired by the 1947 film, SINBAD THE SAILOR starring Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Maureen O'Hara and Anthony Quinn, St. John may have been looking for an adventure title to add to their line and thought SON OF SINBAD would fit the bill. What came of the idea ended up being this one-shot.

A borderline sword & sorcery title, the cover and two stories are drawn by Joe Kubert and another by Carmine Infantino. It turned out being collectible primarily for Kubert and his "Good Girl" art.

One Kubert story was left in St. John's inventory and it was used -- of all places -- in an issue of ABBOTT & COSTELLO COMICS.

While not related to the comic, SON OF SINBAD was made into a film in 1955 and starred Dale "Wells Fargo" Robertson as Sinbad, Vincent Price as Omar Khayyam and a bevy of beauties including Kim Novak and burlesque stripper Lili St. Cyr.
