THE BRIDE WORE (BLOOD) RED

Back in the late 90's and into the 2000's, straight-to-video erotic horror films were popping up like mushrooms. A lot of them came from a company called Seduction Cinema and lensed by director John Bacchus, who dished out titles like THE EROTIC WITCH PROJECT, VAMPIRE VIXENS and PLAY-MATE OF THE APES. Two of his earliest films have some of the most hilarious titles I've ever come across: THE HEAPING BOUNCY BREASTS THAT SMOTHERED A MIDGET (1988) and THE BLOODY VIDEO HORROR THAT MADE ME PUKE ON AUNT GERTRUDE (1989). Wow.

An homage to Jean Rollin?

Flash forward a dozen or so years and another director, Jay Lind, the self-proclaimed "Master of Erotic Horror" attempted to recharge the sub-genre. Unfortunately, his attempts seemed to have largely failed. He has made a handful of other movies, starring Scream Queens like Brinke Stevens, Debbie Rochon and his late wife, Maria Pechukas.

A remake of his earlier CARMILLA with the proposed title, THE BRIDE WORE RED, starring Filipina model Elektra LeTigre and actress, Irene Paquibot was crowd-funded but apparently didn't meet its goal. It was hyped back in 2014, including on the DIABOLIQUE web page, but since then it seemed to have evaporated like the mist of a vampire in the morning sun.

Unless it flew under the radar, what we have left with are only a few tantalizing looks at what could have been a (possibly) interesting Asian horror film, shot in the Philippines.
