Hammer's THE VAMPIRE LOVERS (1970) was a bold move for the film studio. Combining gothic horror and a lesbian vampire was pretty spicy in the day. Nevertheless, it received mixed reviews and a modest return -- enough the Hammer went on to make two more films featuring the theme.
