When I became a more serious collector of comics (other than the titles that I had kept over the years since the 1960's), the title, IS THIS TOMORROW, published in 1947 by the Catechetical Guild Educational Society, was one of the "key" books to have. At the time, considered "esoteric" and hard to find, IST was a cautionary (and thankfully, fictional) tale about the 6th column of Communism that was growing within the United States and the conspiracy of party members to take over the country behind the directive of the then Evil Empire, the Soviet Union.
Distributed for free, it was scripted by F. Robert Edman and Francis McGrade. While the exact panels have not been identified as yet, one of the contributing artists was Charles Schulz, the creator of the world-famous comic strip, PEANUTS!
This was reprinted back in 2016 by Canton Street Press, so it is no longer expensive and hard to find.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's Schulz, not Schultz.
Thanks, James. Re-worded for clarity and corrected.
