PSYCHO NO. 4 (PART 1)

PSYCHO
Vol. 1 No. 4
September 1971
Skywald Publishing Company
Editor: Sol Brodsky
Associate editor: Israel Waldman
Cover artist: Ken Kelly
Pages: 68
Cover price: 50 cents

A dramatic cover by the late Ken Kelly sets the mood (not yet the Al Hewetson "horror mood") for an issue full of talented writers and artists. The Heap continues in his own series, as does the Frankenstein Monster. A nod to Marvel's Hydra on page 23 of Rich Buckler's story and a more than passing resemblance to Dick Briefer's Frankenstein in Tom Sutton's tale of the monster. Includes a text article on the PLANET OF THE APES by Allan Asherman. A super illustration of The Heap by Bill Everett adorns the back cover.

  1. Has this stuff ever been reprinted? If not, it needs to be. There's some terrific artwork hidden between those covers. Thanks.

  2. PS Artbooks plans to reprint the first two issues of Psycho. A softcover collection of the Saga of the Victims from Scream was published by Headpress in 2003. They also published a history of Skywald by "Archaic Al" himself. I would like to see hardcover omnibus editions like Marvel has produced over the years.
