The magazine, HEAVY METAL, is well known -- especially in its earlier days -- for cutting edge fantasy and science fiction stories and illustration. The staff were quite self-aware that they had a good thing going and were confident enough to publish an entire issue of cover art in 2002, their twenty-fifth year of publishing.
