WORLD OF HORROR NO. 2

WORLD OF HORROR
Vol. 1, No. 2
1975 (No month given)
Publisher: Dallruth Publishing Group
Editor: Gent Shaw
Cover: Photo
Pages: 66
Cover price: 30p (50 cents USD)

Subtitled "An Anthology of the Macabre From Films & Fiction", the second issue of WOH offers readers another serving of its unique fare. The fiction stories include R. Chetwynd Hayes' "Don't Go Up the Stairs", the rather unlikely"Trapped By Thirst-Crazed Baboons in the Arizona Desert", a man vs. beast tale that looks like it was ripped from the pages of a 50's men's adventure magazine (with an illustration by the famed Bruce Minney), and "The Clown That Cried Blood" by Georgianna Lee. The "Terror of the Holy Men" is a non-fiction article on The Holy Vehm, the mysterious 13th Century German secret society that meted out justice for outlaws, including its own brand of Inquisition against heretics and that legend has it, persisted through Hitler's Reich as an anti-Jewish organization.

The monster and fantasy content is all interesting and includes material on ZARDOZ, THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBADKING KONG, Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee, and much more.

WOH is not without its obligatory humor content as well, and includes "The Sexy Son of Dracula", a two-page comic strip by Don Orehek, mostly known for his work at CRACKED, an article on the horror spoof THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, and "Monster Madness", a fill-in-the-caption contest, to which I added my own entry.
