The first issue of a nicely done fanzine covering the world of special effects in film and television. My favorite article of the issue was "Making A Ripped-In-Half Corpse"!

  1. One of the things which annoys me a bit when folks discuss fantasy and horror films is the talk about special effects, often to the detriment of other elements of the storytelling. There's a commentary on The Giant Behemoth (I think) in which the guy is so absorbed with the puppetry that refuses to discuss anything else and calls it silly (or words to the effect). Special effects only are valuable as long as they contribute to the overall effect and the best effects are the ones we never know we see.
