Created by France Herron and Bruno Premiani in DC's THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD, The further adventures of spelunker Calvin "Cave" Larson appeared in DC's SHOWCASE series. After the success of Jack Kirby's CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN, Carson and Rip Hunter, Timemaster were introduced. No doubt inspired by Edgar Rice Burroughs and Jules Verne's A JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, Rip was nevertheless more popular and Carson never got his own title.
