ED WOOD'S LOST "MONSTERPIECE"

Hear the name Ed Wood and it conjures up thoughts of a struggling artist who never quite found the success he was after with his low-budget exploitation pictures. Like a number of others, he is one of those personalities that became more well known after their passing.

Wood also was a fairly prolific writer as well, and cranked out sleazy (and pornographic) stories to a number of men's magazines. One of his stories was unearthed by Forrest J Ackerman, who would later spar with Ray Ferry, the magazine's publisher and art director over the rights to the magazine, FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND.

The story, "Gemeni" (a misspelling of the zodiac sign, Gemini), is reproduced here (FM #201, Fall 1993) and is a pretty good example of Wood's writing style. It is followed by an article written by Mark "Pumpkinhead" Carducci -- producer of the documentary FLYING SAUCERS OVER HOLLYWOOD -- who discusses Mr. Wood's career and the upcoming Tim Burton biopic.
