When it comes to searching out monsters in the dark and dim corners, WORLD OF MONSTERS leaves no grave unturned!
Hidden between the covers of a UK film magazine otherwise devoted to mainstream movies was the occasional coverage of a horror film.
CONTINENTAL FILM REVIEW (and later, CONTINENTAL FILM & VIDEO REVIEW) lasted for over 30 years, from 1952 to 1984. Originally conceived as a serious film review and critique 'zine, in later years it rather reveled in films filled with nudity and sex.
I bought the September, 1971 issue off the newsstand rack, primarily because of the cover image of Raquel Welch, who I adored. Inside though, I got my first look at the ravishing Rosalba Neri in LADY FRANKENSTEIN (see my post HERE).
In the issue shown today (November, 1980), are a horror film column covering NURSE SHERRI, PROM NIGHT and DEATH SHIP, and features on THE SHINING, BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS and Brian de Palma's DRESSED TO KILL.
