AMAZING FIGURE MODELER NO. 70 NOW SHIPPING!

At one time in recent years, there were several newsstand magazines that specialized in monster, science fiction and fantasy model kit building. AMAZING FIGURE MODELER is the last one standing.

Since COVID-19 struck, AFM has disappeared off the magazine racks but has still been available by mail order (see publisher's notice at the end of this post). Their latest issue is now shipping for 10-bucks and first class postage.

If you are at all interested in model kit building or just like to see a showcase of talented kit builder's work, then I can't recommend AFM highly enough. It's beautifully produced and includes lots of photos, tips and tricks.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE PUBLISHER OF AFM

Attention Modelers, Readers and Subscribers of Amazing Figure Modeler  magazine-

As you are well aware, COVID-19 is currently wreaking havoc with our lives, our economy and businesses. Unfortunately, Amazing Figure Modeler magazine is not immune to the troubles caused by the pandemic. As with last issue, all newsstand distribution will be halted for the foreseeable future. Diamond Comics is still distributing to comic shops, and a few dealers with standing orders will receive their supply of AFM. While we feel that AFM is essential, the Federal Government does not! This leads us to say something we never expected to say, and that is, AFM issue #70 will not appear on the newsstand or in bookstore chains such as Barnes and Noble. To add insult to injury, the postal service has been tampered with, leaving all of us with slow and unreliable mailing service. Please be patient with the mailing of the magazine. It may take a bit longer to receive the new issue. We have no control over the postal service, but we do expect them to deliver AFM to our subscribers. Please give it a few weeks; if your issue is lost, we will replace it.  We’re not going to lie, it’s an unfortunate blow for our business, but we are so grateful for the loyalty of our subscribers and readership; we will weather this together.

What does this mean for you?

If you subscribe, your issue is on its way! Our trusty printer is mailing them as you read this. If you purchase AFM at your local comic shop, they should have them soon. Diamond orders are shipping, we just do not know when. If you purchase AFM at a bookstore chain or newsstand, Issue #70 will not be on the shelves.

Now here is the much needed good news…you can purchase AFM directly from our website! No need to stand six feet away as you hit “Buy Now” on your computer--you’re safe with us! Just visit amazingfiguremodeler.com and order the new issue of AFM, it’s as simple as that; no gloves or hand sanitizer required!

What does all this mean for us?

It means we’re going to make many trips to the post office! With the virus being such a problem, we’ll probably only go once or twice a week to handle the mailing, so please bear with us as we deal with online orders.

Please help us get the word out that AFM is open and ready to ship our latest issue; feel free to share this message on model forums and social media so that everyone who wants AFM can get it!

These are uncertain and troubling times… we at AFM hope that you and your families and loved ones stay safe and healthy. We’re all in this together, and together we’ll overcome this. If you’re stuck inside with little to do, why not get creative and build or paint something? We happen to know a magazine that can help you out with that!

Thank you for your years of support; we’ll see you this winter for our salute to the 1980s!

A Special Note:

We are trying to batch the orders and keep traveling to the post office to a minimum of once or twice a week. Please be patient with your order and thank you!

  1. While I can certainly appreciate the creativity and skill of the paint job on Medusa with so many different types of realistic snakes, I must admit that I also loathe it! But wow, what a sculpt -- that's one I'd love to repaint myself!
