Harryhausen's THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD was a big deal during this period and Beck covers it in a multi-page review. The TV movie, FRANKENSTEIN: THE TRUE STORY is covered, as well as the "adult" vampire flick, JONATHAN, and a nice spread on the original INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. Caroline Munro is the "Slaymate of the Month", and there are nice pics of the lovely Teresa Graves from VAMPIRA and a "rare and unusual" shot of Diana "Theatre of Blood" Rigg. Incredibly the long-running "Frankenstein TV Guide" continues.
CT Beck was a crook. You'd order merchandise from his magazine and he never delivered it, just took your money and ran. His rag was a rip-off of FM and never achieved anything Forry did, unless it was to feature naked women inside.
ReplyDeleteI really like that magazine, I have a handful of issues. To be honest I always felt kind of embarrassed reading FM with all the bad puns and everything (great pictures though!). CoF always felt a little more serious to me.
