This original art cartoon by Dan DeCarlo doesn't have a gag line, but with a drawing like this, who needs one? First appearing in the men's humor mag, JOKER (1957), it was re-published 3 more times by LAUGH RIOT (October 1965), LAUGH DIGEST (April 1971) and POPULAR CARTOONS (April 1973). DeCarlo was an early key artist for ARCHIE comics, and this pinup looks more than vaguely reminiscent of Betty as a brunette. More on DeCarlo and ARCHIE comics later this morning.
Smashing drawing , lovely use of ink wash , hand applied decades before photoshop. Her toes seem a bit pinched in those tiny shoes tho', makes me feel a tad squeamish, otherwise hubba- hubba! .
