This issue marks the resurrection of the original DEATH RATTLE series of the 1970's. Printed on slick, expensive, longer-lasting "Baxter" paper that was popular at the time, the cover price was more than a "regular" comic as a result.

Gone are the underground comix stylings from the earlier period, and the rougher looking black and white art indicative of "head shop comix" is replaced by full color pages. Introduced by "The Rattler", the entire product has a much more mainstream appearance. Seventies era underground cartoonists are back; Rand Holmes offers a science fiction tale with Wally Wood Avon Comics inspired art, Charles Burns would later become better known for his BLACK HOLE miniseries, and Charles Dallas was one of the creators of the underground horror comic, SKULL COMICS.
