This is the first issue of QUASIMODO'S MONSTER MAGAZINE after Warren threatened Mayfair Publications with his usual subtle charm to dispense henceforth from using the title, MONSTER WORLD. The magazne didn't seem to skip a beat, as it came out on time with its bi-monthly schedule and with the same staff.
The feature article in this issue is on the biological horror film and cautionary tale, PHASE IV. It's part sci-fi, part sci-fact with a little horror thrown in as an experiment with ants goes haywire for a group of hapless scientists. The regular feature, "Nightmare Theater" continues with coverage of a number of lesser known films such as DEAR, DEAD DELILAH, DOOMWATCH (another eco-horror film -- can you tell it was the 70's?), and NIGHT OF THE SORCERERS. yet another Bela Lugosi bio, and yet another Chris Lee bio hidden behind his statement that he doesn't want to play Dracula anymore. An interesting column by Ron Weiss discusses the monster explosion of the 1970's. Included is a comic strip signed by "Tony Williamsune", a pen name for editor Tony Tallarico.
