Movie heralds were "throw away" ballyhoo used by movie theaters to publicize movies that were playing at their establishment. True to their purpose, fans read them and threw them away -- which today makes them extremely rare and very collectible. Shown here is a herald for Universal's FRANKENSTEIN (1931). It sold for $1,700 at auction in 2004.
