"INCREDIBLY RARE" FLASH GORDON MOVIE POSTER
Since this weekend's topic of "Spacemen", this item was coincidentally spotted up for sale at auction. There were a lot of spaceman movies and chapter serials in the 30s, but Buster Crabbe's Flash Gordon was the most popular. Posters for these movies aren't always seen these days and, according to the Auction House, this is one of the rarest.
Flash Gordon (Universal, 1936). One Sheet (27" X 41") Chapter 2 -- "Tunnel of Terror."
An incredibly rare original poster for one of the most lavishly produced and wildly popular serials of its day, this scarce one sheet is seldom offered at auction. It features stupendous graphics of Buster Crabbe as Flash Gordon, Charles Middleton as Ming the Merciless, Priscilla Lawson as Princess Aura, and Jean Rogers as Dale Arden. The poster has a small right corner chip, pinpoint cross fold separation, edge wear with a small chip in the left edge, and several enlarged pinholes in the top left corner and one with a tear in Aura's hair with cellophane tape on the verso. There are pinpoint stains in the borders and a few in the image area. Fine/Very Fine.
Value Estimate: $4,000 - $8,000.
