SPACE MONSTERS ONE-SHOT (PART 1)

SPACE MONSTERS
Vol. 1, No. 1 (One-shot)
February 1990
Condor Books Inc.
Editor: Richard Bojarski

First these scans have nothing to do with Richard Gladman's currently-published UK title of the same name. Second, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info out there on this one-shot magazine of monsters with an outer space theme.

Published as a companion to UFO UNIVERSE, SPACE MONSTERS was edited by Richard Bojarski, who had authored a number of books and whose works were seen frequently during the "classic" period of monster magazines, contributing to titles such as Calvin T. Beck's CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

Though not as artfully designed as some of today's monster 'zines like DIABOLIQUE and RUE MORGUE, the simply presented material is bolstered by the writing of Stephen Jochsberger, Michael R. Pitts and others.

Notable in this one-shot edition is an article by Joseph Silverman on Paul Blaisdell, Bojarski's retrospective on 50's sci-fi films, and David Jenkins' overview of Boris Karloff's science fiction oeuvre.
