Exhibitor Books and other advertising packages, including press books, were commonly distributed by film studios to promote their movies. This strategy was aimed at getting theaters to play their films, hype them as much as possible, and thereby garnering enough attention by the public to pay for a ticket. A real gem from the glory days of Exhibitor Books is this example of a promotional package for Universal's 1931 version of FRANENSTEIN. It consisted of an enclosure, some ad copy, and a number of stills from the film.
