It's no secret that movie studio stars were heavily promoted, even in the early days of Hollywood. Their images could be seen everywhere in the media, from cigarette cards to magazines to newsreels (remember, this was before TV, folks). After completing his role in the Universal "Super Jewel" blockbuster, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, Lon Chaney negotiated an exclusive contract with MGM. This 22" x 28" promotional "Personality Poster" was distributed ca. 1926. It is a fantastic image of a fine actor. NOTICE! Be sure to visit MONSTER MAGAZINE WORLD this weekend for the "Chaney Blogathon". Click on the banner above for details on the event.
