The 1969 Jack Davis drawing for the "Giant Frankenstein Poster" is one of those icons that represents the imagery of the classic monster craze era as well as any other. Mr. Davis' mastery of the brush and pen can be examined more closely in a retrospective of his work in a Fantagraphics Books publication released just last month.
Jack Davis (Also creator of the look of the "bugs" in the ads for Raid.) was the artist who drew the cover of my Creepy issue #1... as well as many other great images except for going through my old magazines I have'nt seen or even thought of this poster that was advertised in some of my collected mags... Keep up the great posts... your follower ....the Doctor
Thank you, My Good Doctor, for making MONSTER MAGAZINE WORLD a regular fly-over. Jack Davis is among my top faves when it comes to cartoonists. I was introduced to his work at a young age by the first series of the "You'll Die Laughing" cards. Then I spotted him in MAD. After that, well I was hooked. The guy's a genius with a pen.
