PARLEZ-VOUS GICLEE MONSTRE? FAMOUS MONSTERS DOES!

While we are conveniently on the subject of CAPTAIN COMPANY, the latest FAMOUS MONSTERS newsletter is an advertisement for their latest products, Giclee prints, of a number of their covers. Some of you may be wondering just what exactly is a "Giclee", anyway? Here's one definition:

giclée (zhee-clay) n. 1. a type of digital fine-art print. 2. Most often associated with reproductions; a giclée is a multiple print or exact copy of an original work of art that was created by conventional means (painting, drawing, etc.) and then reproduced digitally, typically via inkjet printing. First use in this context by Jack Duganne in 1991, Los Angeles, California.

The FN newslet describes their newest wares like this:

LOS ANGELES, CA, February 28, 2011- By popular demand, Famous Monsters of Filmland is now offering a limited run of custom FM cover art giclees. Created by some of the most well-known artists in the genre and reproduced on high quality stretched canvas on wood frame, these works of art are available for purchase at Famous Monsters' CaptainCo.com online retail store and are a must for any collection.

The 14" x 16" strectched canvas prints sell for $119.99 each. Why so expensive? you might ask. Hey, I don't know how far your printer cartridges stretch, but that's a lot of area to cover for an inkjet nozzle! Go to the CAPTAIN COMPANY department of the FM website to shop.
