HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY, RAY BRADBURY!

In many ways, science fiction, fantasy, and indeed American literature as a whole would not be the same without Ray Bradbury. I was put under the magic spell of Ray Bradbury when I read his Bantam Books collection of short stories entitled THE GOLDEN APPLES OF THE SUN. Each story transported me to distant lands, fantastic occurrences, and the poignancy of life and the people who inhabit it. As a result, Bradbury was one of my earliest models for writing. There is a lyricism to his words that few can equal. Happy Birthday, Mr. Bradbury!

"There must be something in books, something we can’t imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. You don’t stay for nothing."
