SKYWALD'S PSYCHO NO. 8 (PART 1)

With this issue, Al Hewetson takes full control of the Skywald horror line and puts the pedal to the metal, introducing the world to his "Horror Mood" concept. Archaic Al pens most of the issue and even opts for a pseudonym on one of them. His story, "The Filthy Little House of Voodoo" is just the start of the crazy kind of titles he was known for.

Original cover painting by Enrich Torres.

Latin American edition.

German edition.

This issue also begins the saga of "The Human Gargoyles". The storyline is continued in NIGHTMARE #10. Also included is a text story (again by Hewetson) on Lon Chaney. And if you're thinking that the lovely victim on the cover looks familiar, it's lifted from a photo of Maggie Kimberly from Hammer's THE MUMMY'S SHROUD.

  1. I've seen a few later installments of the Gargoyle tales but it's neat to see the debut.

  2. Not one of my favorite series, but it certainly was unique!
