MONSTER WORLD VOL. 1 NO. 4 (PART 1)

MONSTER WORLD
Vol. 1 No. 4.
June 1965
Editor: Forrest J Ackerman
Cover: Vic Prezio
Pages: 68

A bit of a ho-hum issue, beginning with a lackluster cover from REVENGE OF THE CREATURE by Vic Prezio, who had done better work for Warren than this. Most notable is the issue kicking off with a short story by Robert Bloch, finishing the last work written by by Edgar Allan Poe (known as simply, "The Lighthouse"). Entitled, "The Horror In the Lighthouse", it ran 10 pages and included stills from various horror films that represented scenes from the story. For a young lad, the exciting conclusion with the description of the "bloated, swollen body of a thing long-drowned" was eerily thrilling. In fact, I was so stricken by the horrific imagery of this story that I emulated it in my own hand-made 'zine, MONSTERS MAGAZINE.

Included in this issue is a Q&A with Christopher Lee from MW readers and a pictorial of the premier opening of a Hollywood monster wax museum, MC'd by Jeeper's Keeper, a pre-Seymour L.A. TV horror host.
